Job Description

The Clinical Embryologists are basic scientists, who help childless couple with their gametes by the art of Assisted Reproductive Technology. They manipulate gametes outside the human body to achieve an embryo by mimicking a natural environment. These embryos are placed in mother’s uterus to achieve a pregnancy. The Clinical Embryologists are responsible for maintaining andrology, embryology laboratory & clinical records. The works performed in Assisted Reproductive Technology laboratory includes semen analysis, preparation of sperms for intra-uterine insemination, freezing & thawing of semen sample, assessing sperm DNA fragmentation, collection of retrieved eggs, assisting with in vitro fertilization, performing ICSI, culturing of embryos, freezing, thawing & transfer of embryos in patient’s uterus, maintaining clinical records and running tests on eggs. The Clinical embryologists ensure excellent care for handling gametes & embryos in the laboratory, regular check for quality control of lab & equipments and maintaining confidentiality of gametes, embryos & patient information. They also input the periodic reviews of embryology services ensuring up-to-date techniques are being used to strive for continual improvement in laboratory standards and success. They also keep abreast of current developments in the field of embryology by attending various conferences / workshops and journal reviews, to make suggestions for new treatment types / methods / systems according to the standard operating protocol. Reporting to the Director.
