Job Description

Key Responsibilities 1. Clinical & Operational Management Oversee day-to-day functioning of the Radiology Department including X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Mammography, and Interventional Radiology services (as applicable). Ensure optimal utilization of imaging equipment and manpower for uninterrupted patient services. Coordinate with clinicians for appropriate imaging protocols and timely reporting. Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all radiological investigations. 2. Quality Assurance & NABH Compliance Implement and monitor quality indicators as per NABH standards (CQI, patient safety, reporting TAT, incident reporting). Ensure documentation, maintenance of records, and compliance with NABH chapters related to diagnostic services. Participate in internal audits, mock drills, and NABH assessments. Address non-conformities and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). 3. Radiation Safety & Statutory Compliance Ensure compliance with AERB guidelines and statutory requirements for radiation safety. Act as liaison with Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and regulatory authorities. Ensure regular calibration, preventive maintenance, and quality control of imaging equipment. Monitor and ensure safe practices for patients, staff, and attendants. 4. Human Resource Management Supervise radiologists, radiographers, technicians, nurses, and support staff. Prepare duty rosters, ensure adequate staffing, and monitor attendance. Conduct training, competency assessments, and continuing medical education (CME) for staff. Participate in recruitment, appraisal, and disciplinary processes as per HR policy. 5. Patient Safety & Care Ensure patient identification, consent, and pre-procedure safety checks are followed. Ensure proper handling of contrast media, emergency preparedness for adverse reactions, and availability of resuscitation equipment. Address patient grievances related to radiology services and ensure timely resolution. 6. Documentation & Reporting Ensure accurate, timely, and standardized radiology reports. Maintain departmental registers, logs, and statutory records. Ensure confidentiality of patient data and compliance with hospital information security policies. 7. Equipment & Inventory Management Monitor functionality and maintenance of imaging equipment. Coordinate with biomedical engineering for breakdowns and preventive maintenance. Manage inventory of consumables, contrast agents, and protective equipment. 8. Coordination & Communication Coordinate with Emergency Department, OPD, IPD, OT, ICU, and other departments for imaging services. Participate in hospital committees such as Infection Control, Safety, Quality, and Medical Audit.
