Common Conditions We Treat

Stroke

We provide immediate, aggressive care for patients presenting with stroke. Upon arrival at the emergency department, a “Code Stroke” is activated, and protocol-driven management begins. The patient will receive the best possible reperfusion therapy for ischemic stroke or surgical intervention for haemorrhagic stroke. Following reperfusion, patients are transferred to critical care for hemodynamic optimization and neuromonitoring, improving recovery chances.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Each year, we treat numerous patients with head injuries. After the primary survey in the emergency department, trauma victims undergo standard trauma imaging. If an operable lesion is detected, surgery is performed immediately. Non-operative and post-operative patients are then transferred to critical care. In addition to standard intensive care, these patients receive advanced neuromonitoring, such as intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, pupillometry, and jugular venous oximetry. Our dedicated team, including neurosurgeons, intensivists, nurses, physiotherapists, clinical pharmacists, and dietitians, provides optimal care for these critically injured patients.

Seizure Disorders

Patients presenting with life-threatening seizures or status epilepticus receive protocolized seizure management, which includes EEG monitoring. With the help of advanced diagnostic tools, these patients are rapidly treated to terminate seizures and prevent further complications.

Ruptured Brain Aneurysms

A brain aneurysm is a small outpouching in the blood vessels supplying the brain. When it ruptures, it can cause life-threatening bleeding around the brain, known as subarachnoid haemorrhage. Patients presenting with "the worst headache of their life" are screened for this condition. If an aneurysm is detected, an angiogram is performed, and the aneurysm is either coiled or surgically clipped, depending on its location. Post-procedure, patients are closely monitored using advanced techniques such as transcranial doppler to diagnose and treat vasospasm early.

Infections

Each year, we treat multiple patients with infections or inflammation of the brain and its coverings, such as meningitis and encephalitis. These may be bacterial, viral, tubercular, fungal, or autoimmune in nature. Demyelinating and Neurodegenerative Diseases

Patients presenting with acute weakness after an infection are screened for Guillain-Barre syndrome and treated accordingly.
