Key Responsibilities 1. Eye Examination & Vision Testing Perform refraction tests and comprehensive eye examinations. Assess visual acuity and diagnose refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia). Conduct preliminary screening for eye diseases. 2. Patient Care & Counseling Prescribe and recommend spectacles and contact lenses. Educate patients on eye care, lens usage, and hygiene. Provide guidance on preventive eye care. 3. Clinical Support Assist ophthalmologists during eye procedures and diagnostic tests. Perform tests such as tonometry, visual field testing, slit lamp examination, OCT, and keratometry (as per skill level). 4. Equipment Handling Operate and maintain ophthalmic instruments and diagnostic equipment. Ensure the proper calibration and functioning of equipment. 5. Documentation & Records Maintain accurate patient records, reports, and prescriptions. Update data in the HIS/ EMR systems. 6. Coordination & Compliance Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, and the optical store. Follow hospital policies, infection control practices, and NABH standards. Qualifications & Experience B.Optom / Diploma in Optometry. Relevant experience in a hospital or eye clinic is preferred. Freshers with excellent clinical skills may also be considered. Skills & Competencies Strong clinical and technical knowledge in optometry. Good communication and patient handling skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. I possess the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
