Key Responsibilities
1. Blood Collection & Donor Care
Assist in blood donation camps and in-house donor collection.
Perform donor screening, registration, and basic health checks.
Ensure donor safety, comfort, and post-donation care.
2. Blood Processing & Component Preparation
Perform blood grouping, cross-matching, and compatibility testing.
Prepare blood components such as PRBC, platelets, plasma, and cryoprecipitate.
Follow SOPs for centrifugation and component separation.
3. Testing & Quality Control
Conduct mandatory tests including TTI screening (HIV, HBV, HCV, etc.).
Maintain quality control as per NABL/NABH and regulatory standards.
Ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
4. Storage & Inventory Management
Maintain proper storage of blood units at recommended temperatures.
Monitor inventory levels, stock rotation, and expiry dates.
Maintain the cold chain during storage and transport.
5. Issue of Blood & Components
Issue blood/components after proper verification and documentation.
Coordinate with clinical departments for urgent requirements.
6. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate records of donors, blood units, testing, and issue registers.
Ensure compliance with blood bank regulations, NABH standards, and legal requirements.
7. Infection Control & Safety
Follow biosafety protocols and biomedical waste management guidelines.
Ensure safe handling of blood samples and equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
DMLT / B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology.
Certification or experience in blood bank / transfusion medicine is preferred.
1–3 years of experience in a blood bank preferred.
Freshers with relevant training may be considered.
