Employment Type: Part-Time Department: General Medicine Role Summary The Consultant in General Medicine will act as a primary point of clinical leadership. You will manage complex cases, oversee the medical management of multi-organ pathologies, and provide expert guidance to junior residents and the nursing team. Core Responsibilities Expert Diagnosis: Evaluate and manage complex, multi-system diseases and "difficult to diagnose" cases. Inpatient Leadership: Lead daily rounds in the medical wards and Intensive Care Units (ICU), ensuring evidence-based treatment protocols are followed. Outpatient Excellence: Provide high-quality primary and preventive care consultations in the OPD. Inter-Departmental Liaison: Act as the lead coordinator for patients requiring multi-specialty intervention (e.g., co-managing surgical patients with underlying medical conditions). Quality & Safety: Ensure the highest standards of patient safety, clinical documentation, and hospital infection control protocols. Mentorship: Supervise and train junior doctors, DNB residents (if applicable), and medical interns. Required Qualifications Education: MBBS + MD (General Medicine) or DNB (General Medicine) from a reputed, MCI/NMC-recognized institution. Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of post-PG experience in a tertiary care or multi-specialty hospital setting preferred. Registration: Mandatory valid registration with the Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC). Expertise: Proficiency in managing lifestyle diseases (Diabetes/Hypertension), infectious diseases, and geriatric care. Key Skills Exceptional clinical decision-making under pressure. Advanced communication skills for patient counseling and family meetings. Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
